Graphic Design Intern
The Graphic Design Intern within the Atlanta Botanical Garden’s Marketing Department is responsible for the production and/or design of a variety of projects as determined and supervised by the Design and Communications Manager that include but are not limited to graphic production, advertising, event invitations, marketing collateral, Garden signage, social media graphics, photography and simple video production/editing, all within the Garden’s existing brand standards.
This is an unpaid internship. Interns in need of college/university course credit preferred.
In addition to course credit, if applicable, the Graphic Design Intern will gain real-world experience in a fast-paced non-profit marketing department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Reproducing advertising for print, outdoor, digital and other media created
Designing and/or updating event invitations and envelopes
Designing and/or updating and installing in-Garden signage
Updating marketing collateral including but not limited to sell sheets, mailings, brochures and postcards
Contributing to the Garden’s photo and video databases, including photography and videography of Garden events on nights and weekends and the organization and cataloguing of media

While performing the duties of this job the employee is required to sit and stand for long periods of time and walk. The employee is frequently required to talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move carry, push, or pull at least 50 lbs. Specific vision requirements for this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to focus and night vision. The employee must be able to take directional cues directly or indirectly.

- Must be at least 18 years of age or older
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must be able to maintain a good working relationship with coworkers
- Must be able to work independently and as part of a team
- Must have independent working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud including Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator with particular focus on print production
- Intermediate photo editing experience
- Intermediate video editing software experience preferred but not required
- Illustration experience preferred but not required
Currently enrolled college seniors and above with a major or primary emphasis/concentration in graphic design, marketing, advertising or art.
Current GPA of 3.0 or above with recommendation by department professor
Robust portfolio of student work and/or professional design work. Collections including advertising, event invitations, marketing collateral, signage and simple video production/editing are preferred
