Emma Neigel, M.S.
Emma Neigel grew up in Athabasca, Alberta, Canada where she worked at a local greenhouse throughout high school. She received a track and field scholarship to Mississippi State University where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Horticulture. She then worked on Kauai, Hawaii for the National Tropical Botanical Garden before returning to complete her Master of Science degree in 2018 with her thesis “Mapping potential habitat for Milkweed (Asclepias tuberosa) using Geographical Information Systems (GIS).” She also received a minor in GIS. Now the conservation horticulturist for the Atlanta Botanical Garden, Gainesville safeguarding nursery, where she manages the site and takes care of some of the southeast’s rarest plants.
