Oliver Hutchens
Oliver received his BS in Biology with a concentration in ecology at The University of The South: Sewanee, where he also managed the university’s tropical horticulture collection. His research focused on plant clonality in response to disturbance, both in the South Cumberland Plateau of Tennessee and Kruger National Park, South Africa. Since graduating, Oliver has taken on several roles with The Garden, such as Pollination Technician and Conservation Horticulture Technician. Oliver is currently in the Micropropagation and Seed Bank Labs, where he assists in the daily workflow of both labs, proudly working to protect the endangered plants of the southeast. In his freetime, Oliver enjoys growing plants, having charcuterie parties, and finding the best bakeries in the city.
