March: Colors of Spring

Nature produces a vibrant palette of color every Spring in Georgia—from snowy white dogwoods to brilliant pink and red azaleas, and everything in between. Create vibrant artwork, explore our rainbow sensory bins, and let your imagination run wild at our colorful playdough stations.

April: Spring Birds

Have you ever noticed the different shapes of bird beaks? How might the shape determine what food they can eat? We’ll find out together at our bird exploration station! Be sure to create your own feathery friend with colorful chalk and design the perfect bird nest out of clay.

May: Mythical Creatures

What do you call a horse with wings or a woman with the body of a fish? Come find out as we indulge in the fascinating array of mythical creatures that inhabit some of the most beloved children’s stories. Visit the mermaids in our sensory bins, uncover hidden dragon treasure in kinetic sand, and construct your own dragon egg at our art station!

June: Pollinator Friends

Celebrate National Pollinator Week with us this June. Learn about the valuable role of diverse pollinator species in our ecosystems, and investigate these fascinating critters up close. Join us for a bee pollen counting game, dig your hands into our “bees in a hive” sensory bins, and design your own “hungry caterpillar!”

July: Kids in Wonderland

Alice’s Wonderland returns this year, with beautiful mosaiculture sculptures placed throughout the Garden. Find the giant rabbit and other interesting sculptures, and then let your imagination go wild in the Children’s Garden at our tea party sensory station and flamingo croquet. Be sure to design your own crown like the Queen of Hearts!

August: Wonderful Water

Dive into the wonderful world of water! From streams, rivers and lakes to marshes and oceans, water is what makes our planet unique. Visit our sea turtle sensory bins, design your own jellyfish, hop on over to our frog games on the Children’s Garden lawn, and cool down in the Splash Pad before you head home.

September: Life in the Desert

Learn about one of the world’s most unique habitats and the plants and critters that call the desert home. Explore desert scenes in our sensory bins, construct a cactus at our playdough tables, and create your own sand succulent art to take home.

October: Harvest Time

This month’s activities are inspired by the harvest season. From delicious food aromas to the crunching sounds of leaves, relax into the nostalgia of autumn as we wind down Garden Playtime for the year. Save some time to hunt around for your favorite Scarecrows in the Garden.
