Learn how to create beautiful plant designs on silk. Eco printing is imprinting images of leaves, plants, and flowers directly on protein fibers using a water bath process. In this workshop, you will create your own unique, beautiful, and colorful designs on a silk scarf with plants you bring from home. Participants will also learn about bundle dying technique and use botanicals along with natural dyes to make a small scarf. All skill levels welcome!
Recommended plants to bring include: Catmint leaves and flowers, Marigolds flowers*, Carrot greens, Yarrow, Rudbeckia flowers, Coreopsis flowers*, Eucalyptus, Calendula flowers, Hibiscus flowers*, Hydrangea leaves, Pansy flowers, Sage leaves, Rosemary leaves, Fennel flowers, Chamomile flowers*, Purple cabbage, Indigo leaves, Rose petals*, Black walnut, Onion skins, Avocado peel, Fern leaves (as resist) * = flowers that can be used either fresh or dried with good results
In addition to the plants you’ll use for eco printing, please also bring your own apron or smock. Gloves will be provided.
