Every Friday and Saturday in October, in keeping with this year’s Scarecrows in the Garden theme, Día de Muertos, make a tribute to your loved ones at a community ofrenda in the Kay & Douglas Ivester Visitor Center. Guests can color a sugar skull and write a remembrance of a special person they’ve lost.
Community ofrendas – altars or memory tables to honor loved ones with mementos during Día de Muertos – are traditionally decorated with lighted candles, foods and the favorite items of a person who has died. Our simplified version offers the opportunity to celebrate life in the Mexican tradition.
