The Virginia Highland Plein Air Painters (founded in 2000) is a rapidly growing group of more than 175 Atlanta metro area artists who paint outdoors. Painting “en plein air” has been practiced by artists for hundreds of years and was made famous by the French Impressionists. Plein air artists pack their portable easels and paints and head outdoors to capture light and atmosphere in a fresh, spontaneous, and energetic manner. The Virginia Highland Plein Air Painters meet every Thursday in beautiful settings across metro Atlanta, capturing the everyday beauty of our city’s parks, neighborhoods and communities.
This exhibition features 28 local artists and 49 recent artworks ranging from watercolor to oil paint.
Schedule: May 9 – July 31
Location: Gardenhouse Gallery
