Suggested ages: 6 months – 5 years

Weather permitting. We will cancel if rain or inclement weather makes outdoor programming impractical. To check the status, email the Registration Coordinator, Angela Clingan, at aclingan@atlantabg.org

Schedule: Tuesdays, March – Oct., 10 a.m. – noon
Location: Children’s Garden

March: ScentSational Spring

Early spring in the Garden is filled with the wonderful fragrance of blooming flowers and trees. Shake off winter and revel in this amazing season with us. Explore flowers up close while making beautiful art and delightfully scented creations to take home.

April: Nature in Rainbows

Nature produces a vibrant palate of color every April in Georgia—from snowy white dogwoods to brilliant pink and red azaleas, and everything in between. Play with color in our activities this month as the natural world springs to life in dazzling beauty.

May: Woodland Adventures

Let’s explore the woods! Find out what plants and critters thrive in forest environments. Enjoy the textures, unique shapes, and unexpected uses of these important plants through play and creative expression.

June: Pollinator Friends

Celebrate National Pollinator Week with us this June. Learn about the valuable role of diverse pollinator species in our ecosystems, and investigate these fascinating critters up close. Be sure to stop by the observation beehive on your visit!

July: Storytelling Adventures

Who doesn’t love a good story? Now you can be the author of your own adventure as we let our imaginations go wild. Host a tea party, create a mythical creature, design your own magical wand; the possibilities are endless.

August: Art in Nature

Have you ever tried to find a perfectly straight line in nature? It’s not easy! Nature has many interesting contours to discover. Come learn how natural patterns can create interesting textures and are fun to mimic in art. See how many unique shapes you can find on your visit.

September: Edible Garden

Make connections between everyday foods and the plants that nurture them to our plate. Discover fascinating variations in foods we thought were familiar (rainbow carrots, anyone?). From leafy greens to tropical fruits, there’s so much to see and learn about the amazing plants that fill our bellies!

October: Harvest Time

This month’s activities are inspired by the harvest season. From delicious food aromas to the crunching sounds of leaves, relax into the nostalgia of autumn as we wind down Garden Playtime for the year. Save some time to hunt around for your favorite Scarecrows in the Garden.

This program is included with Garden admission.
