Though there are many different Stachyurus species in Asia, Early Spiketail is perhaps one of the showiest and most widely found. This is a slower growing plant in the landscape that eventually reaches heights up to 10 to 12 feet. It has long arching branches that are covered in late winter with pendulous 3- to 6-inch flower spikes that are usually a pale to greenish yellow color. Check out several different varieties in the Overlook Garden and Storza Woods.
