Georgia aster has a natural distribution across Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina. It is considered extirpated from the state of Flroida. It is under threat from both develpment and habitat changes due to fire suppression. Georgia aster is widely considered to be the showiest member of its genus.
