Laurie Blackmore, M.S.

Research areas: Conservation, non-timber forest products, women in development, alternative income sources, international conservation strategies

Laurie Blackmore is the Director of Applied Conservation within the Southeastern Center for Conservation at the Atlanta Botanical Garden. She directs the Center’s applied conservation programs, projects, and staff. Mrs. Blackmore facilitates collaboration between the Center for Conservation and federal, state, and private partners to ensure that project objectives are completed to standard to achieve conservation goals. She received an M.S. in Forestry from the University of Idaho, focusing on Non-Timber Forest Products, and a B.S. in Forestry from the University of Washington. Laurie is a lifelong development and conservation professional with experience in scientific and interpretive writing in the private, public, and non-profit sectors in the United States and abroad. She has worked across North America and much of Africa in habitat conservation and sustainable alternative income strategies.
