Join us for an evening with Andi Pettis, Director of Horticulture at Governors Island. Andi will share some of the strategies, practices and lessons learned from her experience leading the ecological restoration of a 172-acre island – in the heart of New York Harbor, and the ripple effect such projects can have on urban resilience, biodiversity, and community well-being. This talk promises to be both inspirational and informative for those working on restorative projects in Atlanta, or in the support of projects that can lead to healthier, more climate-resilient cities.
Andi Pettis is the Senior Director of Horticulture with The Trust for Governors Island, where she works with a team of some of the most talented, curious, and innovative horticulturists and landscapers in New York City. She is formerly the director of horticulture at the High Line, where she began her career in public horticulture as a gardener. Currently, Andi is also working with Forest for All NYC, a coalition of organizations dedicated to building a healthy, biodiverse, robust, accessible, and resilient urban forest for New York City that will help the city adapt to and mitigate climate change.
Hosted in partnership with Trees Atlanta.
