Member Exclusive activities during Family Fun Day
Garden Members are invited to the exclusive member activity area in the Kay and Douglas Ivester Visitor Center, as well as to enjoy other monthly outdoor Family Fun Day activities.
11 a.m.: Paint a white mini-pumpkin on the terrace with pumpkins, markers and paint pens provided.
Noon and 1 p.m.: Certified beekeeper Jon Cordell and his wife Summer will give presentations using a mock hive that shows, frame by frame, everything that happens inside a bee colony. Jon and Summer will also bring an observation hive with live bees and provide educational materials for anyone who might be interested in beekeeping. The Cordells moved to Gainesville in 2015 to build their farm, Poco a Poco . In 2021, Jon joined the Tri-County Beekeepers Association and the Cordells have increased from 2 to 11 working hives.
Plus, each member will receive a 2 oz jar of delicious honey as a member treat, while supplies last.
