Celebrate the strong connections between plants, food and culture in honor of World Refugee Day. Hosted in partnership with Friends of Refugees, local chefs mix up the weekend cooking demos with international recipes in the Outdoor Kitchen alongside other activities that highlight Atlanta’s diverse refugee communities and foodways.
10:30 a.m.: Hso Moo, Karen (Burmese) recipe
11:30 a.m.: Chef Winnie, Ethiopian recipe
12:30 p.m.: Nimota Dairo, Nigerian recipe
1:30 p.m.: Malika Nuarozi, Afghan recipe
Visit with the Friends of Refugees and Jolly Avenue Garden staff, along with members of the Growing Leaders youth group and IRC Youth Food Justice Interns. Sample a treat from Sweet, Sweet Syria; plant a sunflower seed to take home; and enjoy music from Clarkston High School Strings Ensemble while you stroll the Garden.
