About Chef Ali Mesghali

A native of Iran, Ali Mesghali moved to Los Angeles, CA, when he was 11 years old and spent the majority of his early years working in Persian restaurants. As a young cook working in Los Angeles, Ali dreamed of what would one day become Rumi’s Kitchen. In 2007, that dream became a reality after Ali moved to Atlanta, Georgia. That location would grow to become an institution in Atlanta, and Ali a beloved chef in the city.
Chef Ali has been invited to cook at the James Beard House in New York, and his restaurant in Washington D.C. has been listed in the Michelin guide two years in a row.
In the kitchen, as well as in the dining room, Ali is known for his pursuit of perfection and his intensity and love for what he does. On any given night, you will find Ali at one of his restaurants in Atlanta, Washington D.C. or Houston – working the floor to ensure his guests get the best experience possible. This unending aspiration for perfection has been instrumental in establishing the standard for Persian cuisine in the United States. His unique and flavorful touch has been wowing guests at Rumi’s Kitchen for the past 17 years and has created a place where people want to visit again and again.
