About Chef DeeDee Niyomkul

Chef DeeDee Niyomkul is an award-winning chef, restaurateur, and one of Atlanta’s most influential voices in modern Thai cuisine. Raised in a pioneering Thai restaurant family, DeeDee grew up immersed in hospitality, flavor, and tradition. Her earliest culinary inspiration came from her grandmother, a Bangkok street food vendor whose vibrant dishes instilled in her a lifelong respect for authentic Thai ingredients and technique.

Chef DeeDee began her career in Atlanta as Executive Chef of the acclaimed Nan Thai Fine Dining. She later opened Tuk Tuk Thai Food Loft and Nan Thai Buckhead, where she continues to showcase both traditional and contemporary interpretations of Thailand’s diverse regional cuisines.

Chef DeeDee gained national recognition on Food Network’s Beat Bobby Flay, where she defeated Bobby Flay with her celebrated Lobster Tom Kha soup, a dish that perfectly reflects her style: bold yet balanced, refined yet deeply rooted in heritage.

Known for her thoughtful layering of flavors, aromatic herbs, and beautiful presentation, Chef DeeDee approaches cooking as both storytelling and sensory experience. Through her restaurants and culinary appearances, she continues to elevate Thai cuisine in Atlanta while honoring the traditions that shaped her journey.
